Synthetic Fantasy – Recent Projects on BioArt in China

Synthetic Biology is a transdisciplinary field combining information technology and biotechnology, which is and will be flourishing in the next decades in China and around the world. The lecture will introduce Jo Wei’s curating, teaching and translating practices in synthetic biology (the gene as media), and describe the potential for deconstructing the dualism between nature and society, object and subject, organism and machine.
