The Book of Songs is regarded as the origin of Chinese literature and has had a prolonged impact on Chinese culture, aesthetics and ethics. In this work, we have analyzed different dimensions of the 305 poems in The Book of Songs. We aim to learn how various poetic imageries connect abstract themes and subjective emotions at the micro level, and how the poems connect people today with their ancestors at the macro level, leading us to the understanding of the universal, the everlasting, and the poetic in human life.
