David Yip

David has been a visual storyteller since his undergraduate years, double-majoring in film and mass communications at UC Berkeley and USC. David worked in film and TV prior to his 20+ years of university teaching in media production and storytelling. As a writer, director and producer, David has made 40+ narrative stories that can be seen at www.youtube.com/goyipp. David has been commissioned to create TV drama, animation, documentary for museum and interactive VR project on cinematic surrealism. David is active in doing applied projects and creative consultancy works for government and local and overseas creative industries. Since obtaining a Doctorate of Education from University of Bristol in 2015, David has published several book chapters and conference papers in Springer and other publications on interactive media and visual storytelling. David’s key research interest is to integrate theory and practice with new media technology in areas of cinematic arts, visual communication and expression, and interactive narrative. David’s research interest is to build on and expand his two decades of media production experiences into virtual production.
